What is SRC Code?

SRC Code is a 24 hour long free-to-attend hackathon made for high school students in the Bay Area, meant to empower any student who wants to code. Run by students for students, this event educates and provides a valuable opportunity for those looking to pursue computer science — regardless of their skill level. Attendees will work in teams of four to create software/hardware projects for an environmental, educational, or entertainment cause.

In order to make this opportunity open to all members of our community, we're making the event free. We provide a space to work, Wi-Fi, free food, and various workshops & activities to create the best experience possible. We want to ensure that all attendees leave having learned something new about computer programming. This year, we are aiming to accommodate more than 250 attendees with a similar gender ratio.

Our Mission Statement

SRC Code aims to bring new people into the field of computer science. We believe that programming is a skill anyone can learn. All experience levels are welcome!

What is SRC Code?

This event is limited to high school students. If you have graduated from high school, you can only apply to be a mentor.

Does this cost money?

Registration, food, merchandise, and events are completely free! However, travel reimbursements are not available.

What if I can't code?

No problem! We will be hosting many workshops to help new hackers learn valuable skills and create their own original projects!

What should I bring?

Photo identification is required. A laptop with chargers is recommended, although our venue does provide iMacs. Power strips, sleeping bags, and toiletries are highly recommended as well.

How many people can be in a team?

A maximum of four people are allowed to be on one team.

Is there a theme?

Yes, all submitted projects must fall within one of these three themes: Environment, Education, or Entertainment.

Are there going to be prizes?

What if I have dietary restrictions?
